A Solid History of Training
Established in 1982, the Desert Institute is one of the longest operating bodywork school
s in the country. Whether you are looking for a Massage Therapy education, Shiatsu training or a combination, DIHA offers a comprehensive, sequential education, including training you’ll need like ethics, business management, anatomy, communications skills, physiology and pathology. Also, at the Desert Institute school, you can choose either day or evening classes with start dates throughout the year.

Federal financial aid (grants & loans) are available to those who qualify. Special discounts are offered on massage / shiatsu supplies, required books, professional treatments and continuing education. Support is provided through tutoring in anatomy, career/guidance counseling and lifetime employment assistance. We promote our graduates through our website, employer contacts and stay connected with our students, and graduates with our quarterly newsletter.
A Variety of Programs and Electives
Full-time or part-time, days or evenings, massage or shiatsu: DIHA has a program that can accommodate your needs, including continuing education and certification courses in Reflexology and Thai Massage. And because we believe a well-rounded education makes for a better, more successful professional, we offer a variety of elective courses including spa treatments, prenatal, massage for people with cancer or HIV/AIDS, seniors and injury management as well as courses to enhance your professionalism & expand your own business.
Accredited Quality
Accreditation means you don't have to take our word for it; our adherence to high teaching standards is independently verified by outside agencies. DIHA is currently the only school in Arizona accredited by the Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA). COMTA recognizes schools that adhere to stringent curriculum requirements, training procedures, and management of school practices. We also receive accreditation from the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT). Both agencies are recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
