WESTERN HERBALISM CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
[400 hours]

Connecting to the "Green"

In order for the student to develop a working relationship with the plants, we feel a full-spectrum education is essential. The importance of developing solid therapeutic skills is paramount and we will provide hands-on experience and training in natural herbal therapies. This includes gaining an understanding of the basic health sciences as well as developing creative and intuitive skills that honor earth-centered values. Woven within this program is a blend of earth-centered classes related to herbal traditions, ritual, ceremony and story-telling.

Learning the plants in the classroom, honoring and harvesting them in the field, making medicines with them and using them as therapies, not only sparks awareness of the world around us, but our connection to it. This increases the student¹s parameters of creativity and unfolds the awareness of spirit that fuels self-empowerment. Inherent in our definition of a competent herbalist is one who has a profound appreciation for their work as well as a deep connection to the "Green".

This new and innovative eight month herbal program at NAMTI invites you to explore with us the path of plants as medicines and healing allies. The program is being led by the former Director of the Rocky Mountain Center for Botanical Studies, Feather Jones.
